* History of formation

Van Tra Vegetable, Root and Fruit Cooperative, with Mr. Nguyen Van Truong as legal representative, was granted a business registration certificate for the first time by the People's Committee of Yen Mo district on April 22, 2022, and registered for the first change on February 6, 2023.

The predecessor of Van Tra Vegetable, Root and Fruit Cooperative is Van Tra Agricultural Cooperative, Yen Thang commune, Yen Mo district, which has 64 years of experience in agricultural production, mainly rice. Since 2020, the Cooperative has introduced a model of growing pennywort to replace ineffective vegetable growing areas. Up to now, the pennywort growing area is over 8 hectares. Traders come to the fields to buy the harvested products, with prices ranging from 15,000 - 20,000 VND/kg, the output reaches 4 - 5 quintals/sao, deducting costs for a year, the income is from 50 - 60 million VND/sao. On average, each household has an income of 100 million VND; large households have an income of 200 to 300 million VND/year.

However, the purchase price of pennywort is unstable, sometimes very low, farmers do not want to sell but are forced to cut to ensure the growth of the next crop of plants, so traders often force the price down. To overcome the situation of good harvest but low price, stabilize the market and build the Yen Thang pennywort brand, pennywort growing members of Van Tra Agricultural Cooperative established Van Tra Vegetable, Root and Fruit Cooperative in 2022 to contribute counterpart capital, build the brand and develop the Cooperative's Van Tra pennywort powder products.

With the attention and enthusiastic support of the Provincial People's Committee and the Provincial Cooperative Union, up to now, the Cooperative has built a factory, purchased and installed a cold dryer system, grinder, washing machine, extractor, printer, and product packaging machine to serve the production and processing of pennywort powder products. Through organically growing pennywort and building a chain production model, the cooperative can ensure output for agricultural products, improve product quality, develop pennywort powder as an OCOP product, and bring the Yen Thang pennywort brand to the market.
